Keeper of My Heart
You can see the history in his face,
Every wrinkle has it's place.
The wisdom sinks into the depths of his eyes,
Each frown and smile show in the lines.
His shoulders have fallen, but only by age,
The story ongoing from page to page.
The doctor's have proven his heart is strong,
To be loved by him, you know they're not wrong.
His body has aches and scars from living,
Hands with arthritis, but continue giving.
His legs hurt often and stints were done.
Now he walks and runs like there's a race to be won.
If he needed a thing, he can count on me.
A hand, a shoulder or a smile to see.
He's been there for me since the very start.
My dad, my friend, the keeper of my heart.
