Independence

Sometimes I feel like I've reached the end
don't know how to turn back, or where to begin,
I feel like I'm falling fast, and can't land
my life isn't my own, but controlled by another hand,

I always try to do what I'm told
I can't be myself, can't be bold,
hold me not, let me be
I want to run, jump, to be free,

I don't want to follow the crowd, be like you
I want to by myself, to see my life my way, till it's through,
breaking free from the chains that bind me
overcome sterotypes, and show the real me,

What do you see when you see me?
a snob, a bitch, I'm not that bad really,
I'm like you, insecure with my life
trying hard to deal with it's strife,

Everything around me constantly changes
it's hard to adjust, I want to rearrange it,
walk in my shoes for just one day
you'd see the real me, what would you say?

Oh, if I could I'd run far from here
escape the heavy chain of shame, that we all wear,
I don't want to be like you and make the same mistake
I'll never give in, I'm my own person for heaven's sake!

(GP) Life, love, and happiness. Death, hate, sorrow, that is the ying and yang of life. How ironic. Some body is laughing there ass off somewhere. smiles Vincent

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
