Deafened (a Terza Rima Sonnet)
These rough storms of hate inside me ensue.
Endless are the waves of loathing that pound,
reminding my heart how I despise you.
A way to forget I still haven't found.
Your faceless memory looms hauntingly,
your words cut my soul with razor sharp sound.
Dreams are worth fighting for you seemed to agree.
One little slip and you cut my tether.
Again it seems not worth fighting with me.
Love is made to face all kinds of weather.
My devotion could face most any squall,
yours held no strength to keep us together.
Heart swelled with love is now shriveled and small,
steadfastly deafend to love's future call.
