Innocent Dreams

Innocent girls with pillowcase veils
practice first kisses on pillow shaped males.
Planning each detail of their future world,
when dreams of romance are finally unfurled.

Naive teenage girls with over painted faces;
tears that run down their cheeks track the traces
of hearts cracked slightly in several places,
by love's rough hand which each of them chases.

Pretty young women, second decade of life,
seems most have been cut by love's cold brutal knife.
Just want to wake up and be somebody's wife.
Someone who will love them and not cause them strife.

Women of thirties feel they've run out of chances,
caring for children from broken romances.
Unable to trust rebuff all men's advances.
Nights are spent alone in the dark with which she dances.

I dig your writing style, I'm definitely a fan of rhyme...."first kisses on pillow shaped males" brought me back to being 12 years old!

Beautiful poem I must say, quite creative too. It ends when I want to keep reading, I feel there could be a continuation. overally I love it, great stuff!
