Let me tell you about Christmas essence,
Its simply about the Lord and His presence.
It isnt about the Tree, the man in the sleigh,
Its time to get down on our knees and pray.

Did you fight for my Christmas gift?
Get all mad and get in a tift?
Black Friday madness and mean spirit.
You dont have to say, I dont want to hear it.

Did it come in place of groceries you need?
How many times do I have to plead?
Think of humanity, devotion of spirit and love,
Spread your warmth like the wings of a dove.

Check the materialism at the door.
Set the example of grace and show theres more,
than jewels and shiny trinkets to buy,
God, Im sure looks down, and can only sigh.

This is how they celebrate my Sons birthday?
What has happened and what would Jesus say?
Gracefully step back and give it some thought.
Think long and hard about what Jesus taught.
