Beginning (Again)
I stood in the doorway looking into the dark
Wondering what lies out there beyond the deep black veil
I know there is a fire burning I see the faintest spark
That spark must be my beacon, for I cannot see the trail
With hesitation, bordering horror, I step slowly from the frame
Toes first to test the ground, I must not stray the path
Knowing, with steps behind I can’t go from whence I came
I must keep on traveling and head on face the wrath
To where will this journey lead me as I struggle along the way?
Will the dark envelope me to never release my soul?
Will the final destination be a price much to high to pay?
Will it be a place for me where finally I am whole?
What lies ahead? There is no answer to tame the terror wild
I can only find out if I keep moving toward that spark
I must face these fears, as does the little child
And in opposition to the unknown reach and envelope the dark
