AJ and Levi

AJ and Levi

AJ and Levi, are my constant companions.
Purebred their not, they'll never be champions.
Their both German Shepherds, of this there's no doubt.
But their mother had obviously been out about.

Although they are brothers and littermates too
They look not alike, a strange looking crew.
AJ is a Shiloh with long silky hair.
Levi 's coal black, not a spot anywhere.

AJ's real name is Amigo Joe.
He's very laid back and takes life very slow.
On the other hand, Levi is constantly going.
All of the time, his mischief he's sowing.

I got them as puppies when I was distraught.
I wish I could tell you the solace they've brought.
I'd just lost my beautiful, wonderful wife.
Sadness, loneliness, and darkness were rife.

They chewed up my shoes, garden hose and such.
And sometimes I thought, this is really too much.
But I offer to God, my heartfelt thanksgiving.
When I was distraught, they helped me keep living.

Yes, we got a young Finnish Spitz a year before my bride died.. She still sleeps on my wifes side of the bed on the floor.

Animals are truly God's gift to us to bring us pleasure and love. I think dog's are amazing at teaching us the concept of His unconditional love.

aggie, What a truly heartfelt song to your doggies who have brought you such joy and companionship and also on the ligter side took up some of your time with repairing, and scolding. Very interesting piece of humanity and dogmanity. LOL! ginga

Sorry for your loss. Nice Ending. Dogs are so great. They love you no matter what.

Ditto to everything you said. From one animal lover to another, they comfort, console and chew but the look in their eye when they stare at you............................... Love this.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
