    A Promise Kept

Spirit promised to send me a new love.
Spirit promised to send me a true love.
So he started to send me one after the other.
All were quit sweet, but not what I'd druther.

One was too heavy, and one was too grim.
One who just giggled, and one was too prim.
So I wrote out what was important to me.
Just what I thought this new love should be.

I wrote down a list, I was very specific.
Of all of the things that would make her terrific.
Listed twenty two items in all you will see.
Twenty two things that I thought she should be.

Then out of the blue, he sent me a Queen.
A beautiful lady, her name is Arlene.
Twenty two items, she matches them all.
So immediately into love I did fall.

Pretty, Intelligent and humble you bet.
    Patient, forgiving and tolerant yet.
Affectionate, likes to hug and to kiss.
Creative and spiritual, that you can't miss.

Creative, self confident with high self esteem.
She's social, likes people and dogs to extreme.
Can appreciate silence and listens real well.
Likes the outdoors, sports and to travel as well.

Spirit promised to send me a new love.
Spirit promised to give me a true love.
So Spirit has kept his promise to me.
I love her quite dearly, it's easy to see.

This is precious. I don't see it as sophisticated poetry but you won my heart, professor. Tell Arlene high from another poet.

    Fantastic! What uplifting prose!!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
