    WAR....

Many are the times we contemplate our lives
the meaning of it all, should we ever fall
Children and their cries of their war straught lives
echo of the bombs and buildings when they fall
Damage that is wrought for freedom that is sought
tho the price is high, the freedom finally bought
The dead and the dying all for freedom trying
just to strive to live, out their lives that god did give
Who is wrong and who is right, gets all lost within the fight
the meaning of it all, forgotten in the battle call
The machine gun screams hollow, bringing death, cries of sorrow
then the planes fly by raining death down from the sky
All will try to run, tho soldiers some are none
looking for some place to hide, seeking shelter as they die
The bombs and bullets fly, promises of death
    thee words are never lies
As thebattle rages, lives are not forsaken
each in their turn, feeling bullets as they burn
through the heart and soul, tho some do not bleed
    they all take their toll
So when this war is over, all the soldiers gone
those who're left behind struggle to carryon
     Just to strive, to live
out their lives that God did give

another excellent poem! Hopefully it is one I never can fully relate to, however. Thank you for your service to our nation, and you contribution to this site!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
