Waiting by the Phone
I sit staring at the phone hoping and praying it will ring
I’m just waiting here at home can’t concentrate on a thing
Is that a ring that I hear or my imagination?
Not sure, it wasn’t clear I’m full of anticipation
So nervous can’t sit still I really wish he’d call
I’m positive he will or maybe not at all
My hands are shaking my feet are tapping
My bodies quaking don’t know what’s happening
My temperature is rising my emotions are soaring
And I’m realizing this waiting is boring
To call he did promise after he got off work
His call I don’t want to miss then again, he may be a jerk
To keep a woman waiting is not so very nice
So if we start dating I won’t go do it twice
I am getting oh, so angry my face is turning red
Surely I can see he’s messing with my head
Phone rings after a stone age I slowly begin to rise
Answering the phone in my rage
I say “Hi baby, what a surprise!"
