    Angel Food Cake

One night I had a dream
And it seem so very real
I saw an Angel in the corner
    He was sitting very still
As I looked into his eyes
He raised his head and said
“If you don’t mind I am hungry
    Can you spare some bread?”
As I raised my brow to him
And my look one of surprise
I got up out of my bed
And he slowly began to rise
As I walked out of the room
“Follow Me,” I said to him
So we tip-toed to the kitchen
Where the lights were very dim
Then I opened up the cabinet
And no bread did I find
    He reacted so strangely
That I thought he’d lose his mind
All of a sudden he stopped
On his face a big wide grin
He said “I am so very hungry
Could you hand me that my friend?”
    I slowly turned around
To see just what he saw
I looked over on the counter
I stood there in such awe
    Such warmth came over me
As a tear fell from his eye
    His face was all aglow
And I thought I heard him sigh
As I gave him what he wanted
From my sleep I did awake
    Laughing to myself, because
It was an Angel food cake.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
