Untitled 8/13/10

Laying on the beach
Watching the birds soar
Listening to the waves
Crash onto the shore

The air is warm
With just a gentle breeze
Just the sound of your voice
Makes me weak in the knees

The wind gets colder
As the sun goes down
We soon forget
All the people around

We talk for hours
Beneath the moonlight
Then fall asleep
Holding each other tight

We wake up just in time
To see the sun rise
All too soon we we'll
Have to say our goodbyes

As we get up to go
You take my hand
Neither of us knowing
About our future plans

And as you start to leave
I am left feeling blue
I just want you to know
You'll be taking my heart with you

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
