Thinking aloud

Thinking aloud

I see them laughing 'cause she's talking to herself again,
she's always alone but is she lonely? is she her only friend?
she speaks without the need of another ear to hear her
but my curiosity seats me near her to hear her clearer
Her words reverberate off of the fingerprinted glass
I can't tell if she doesn't notice,
or maybe she just doesn't care about their laughs
Maybe she knows what they don't
so she dares to do what they won't
she is content with her own company
sometimes the solace of solitude is comforting
The giggles and wispers wither away, like it's just the two of us
And her soul unfolds to engulf this city bus
Like she's invited me in to this place where insecurity fades into obscurity
one becomes one with their self, a felt oneness
and it feels eerily familiar, like I've done this before
she leads me to the sea of dreams behind my minds door
I feel my heart race against the stillness
as I look back at a past of
Constantly rushing toward nothing and wanting nothing more than fulfillment
but the ego only wants to want
it's never fulfilled, always longing for belonging
but now I know my mind belongs to me
she has shown me behind the label of the fabled "ME"
Now I look at her, not with sympathy but envy
she See's no need to be a slave to the week, no pretending
She doesn't care about the crowds or the talk of the town
And she's not crazy, we all talk ourselves, it's called thought,
she's just thinking out loud

I agree, and another bonus with talking to yourself is you never have to worry about those akward silences.lol. Thanks for the kind words.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
