The American Theme
Since inception the same thing, this is not the invention of a new game
It’s just rephrased, renamed and represented as new shame
It’s got us searching for redemption like Dufrense in Shawshank
While the rich expand their riches politicians spread their lips until their jaws break,
And unhinge, to ingest more than their body weight, like snakes
Slithering through the withering smithereens of the American dream
United we stand is the American theme
Then why do one percent control what the rest of us glean
We front united, but we stand divided
Beneath a flag and media flash of facts that are all one sided
Wall street was corrupt with fat cats so in a last stance we decided to occupy it
We need new management and new math, a new review of the skewed stats
News papers only print what they want you to know
As paper trails run cold into cold cash and colder hearts
This division within the system systematically tearing us apart
While we peacefully assemble in resemblance to a constitution that’s been skewed and diluted
Only the arrogant and ignorant can refute the proof that constitute our illusion
But money talks and cash is illusive in the backlash of a past so abusive
We’ve been beating ourselves, we built this beast and lengthened the leash
