The ones we lost

Poem Commentary

I wrote this back in September as I was sitting on my porch in thought!

The ones we lost

The memory of those I lost
Has me in deep thought
Some of the long battles some have lost
Maybe even lines and boundaries
that got crossed
Loyalty was never lost
Some battled with the streets
like being caught out deep sea
battling sharks
Some Karma hit because they didn't
do things in the light only in the dark
All Gods angels but some strayed
and wandered too far
Where some only seen the bad in them
I seen their hearts
Like a beautiful dark clear sky
and you can see all the stars
I would be lying if I said that losing them didn't
make me feel empty and scarred
A automobile won't properly function
missing it's parts
I pray, meditate, and lift this feeling
up to God
Without him giving me strength and wisdom
I would be lost

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
