The Mountaintop Experience
There once was a man with pride
Who decided the highest mountain to climb,
But, only to receive his own glory
So he prepared for just the right time.
He located the mountain for his challenge
Alone, he made the trip in the dark night
The moon and stars covered by clouds
It was difficult to see without light.
Only a few feet from the top of his goal,
He slipped falling into the air with great force
Realizing what his fate may be
He wondered his final recourse.
All of a sudden, the rope pulls hard
His body swinging in the air so free
And in the stillness of the dark night,
The words came out, “Oh, please, God, help me.”
In an instant, a voice answers
A deep voice, yet loving and kind.
“What is it you want me to do?”
“Save me. Please send me your lifeline.”
“Do you really think I can save you?”
The question comes quickly in earnest.
“Yes, Lord, I believe that you can.”
“I need help to save me from this mess.”
“Then, cut the rope tied around your waist.”
In silence, the man took time to think.
“I can’t possibly do such a thing as that.”
“I’ll just hold on with all my strength.”
“We have found him,” the rescue team report.
The voice echoing across the mountain loud.
They discovered his body frozen
ONLY TEN FEET AWAY FROM THE GROUND.
Who decided the highest mountain to climb,
But, only to receive his own glory
So he prepared for just the right time.
He located the mountain for his challenge
Alone, he made the trip in the dark night
