I ponder the heavens.
As darkness envelopes the sky, I reflect
Looking at the millions of stars in the velvet-like sky
Asking, Is Heaven real where I can connect?
Or, am I not looking at the full picture on earth?
Frigid snow falling enveloping the familiar pines,
Candles in a window giving out beautiful warm light;
Icicles dripping from a frosted pane creating artistic lines.
Green grass pricking my feet on a hot summer day,
Smoke billowing from chimneys drifting into the air,
A breeze blowing gently whispering names of people,
Places, my past
Lessons for me taught – the memories my inner being wears.
A moon that shines brighter than before with oceans far bluer,
A golden sun across the earth with a fusion of rich colors
that bring thoughts
Time, love, friendship, family, broken hearts, mended wounds
Making up who I am today with lessons that are wrought.
I know there is a Heaven infinite and majestic
And one day, that is where I enter to rest.
Yet, we obtain a glimpse of Heaven on earth here
To help us through our soul-searching quest.
