Tattoo

It was so unexpected
Tearing down walls
Breaking the locks
Entering my world with such ease.

It was so unexpected
Hearing the words
Making the plans
To marry the man of my dreams.

It was so unexpected
Fearlessly flying
Seeing my future
Changing much more than my name.

It was so unexpected
Facing the fear
Racing the clock
Now forced to play a new game.

It was so unexpected
In show of support
Across your bicep
A pink ribbon boldly displayed.

It was so unexpected
Boosting my hope
Helping me fight
But the gift that left me unafraid...........

..............was so unexpected
My determination
The number one reason
Was given to me from the start.

Yes, so unexpected
Before any others
The best gift of all
Is the tattoo you etched in my heart.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
