    Reluctant Gift

I cautiously give myself to you
for when I give me ~ I give all
I open the gate to this fortress I've built
from foundation up ~ solid and tall
don't bring in a wrecking ball

Should you accept this gift that I give ~
it will arrive whole and intact
don't then decide you won't need it in full
and start sending small pieces back
no returns if it isn't exact

Assembling this product, this labor of love
took patience ~ persistence and years
parts were scattered ~ tools hard to find ~
    instructions were vague and unclear
crafted from blood ~ sweat and tears

I beg you to choose to refuse my gift
if it just isn't going to fit
"I cannot receive all that you offer"
I hope that you'll freely admit
but then be prepared to exit

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
