Confrontation
For a moment ~
I'm paralyzed by fear.
Fear of what? The past? The future?
The past was not so long ago.
The future remains unsure.
No. It is now that I fear.
Afraid of the minutes that'll follow the instant
That I step through that door.
What I must face.
What I have to accept.
What I need to know.
The tension within remains.
Deeply buried ~ as I hide my emotions.
Appearing confident and cool.
Relaxed ~ to all who see.
Refusing to allow my insecurity to surface.
Refusing to be intimidated.
I hold my own, without falter.
No longer afraid ~
I put this behind me.
A flood of tears. Relief.
It's over.
Now, I know ~
I am sure ~
I can let go.
