Simpler Days
Simpler Days
Oh, how I wish, that I could be
The little child that lives inside of me
She loved to smile most everyday
Could run and dance, play the day away
Run through fields of wet tall grass
Chasing dreams that would never last
Sit on the floor, play jacks and more
Put together puzzles, never got bored
Make up songs, put on shows
Hug daddy’s neck, because I loved him so
Put on an apron, pretending to be
Just like mommy, always trying to please
Roll up biscuits, pat them down
Always smiling, never a frown
Drawing pictures of flowers and trees
Chasing butterflies, running from bees
How I long for those simpler days
Tangled hair, scraped up knees
Oh how I wish, that I could be
The little blued eyed girl, so happy and free
