A Dying Soldier's Prayer
As he lay dyingin a pool of blood
on the desert floor
His ravaged body
nearly lifeless
shattered armour
by his side
His eyes...
once filled with tears
now nearly dry
looks to the heavens
He prays for forgiveness
Father; I shall kill no more
Forgive my brothers
as they fight this war
For they do not fight
for themselves
but for the greed
and the power
of many more
With one last gasp
he says once more
Father please forgive me
And then no more...
