    My African King

    You inspire me
You’ve ruled over our men, their men
    And many nations to come

You ejaculated power over the golds,
    The diamond, the mountains
    You were listened to, respected

Over time you were unwillingly pushed down
    From your rank in society
    But continued to be strong
And nurtured your people and family

You were freed and again enslaved
    By the hatefulness
    Of a departed nation

But now you’re back on top
    Leading businesses, fashion and music
    You’ve accomplished what they said
    You couldn’t pursue

    You put your woman first
Take time to listen and please her
You don’t exploit her body to the outside world
Because she’s yours and only yours

    I respect where you stand
    You’ve turned into someone
When they told you you’d be nothing
    You’re my strong black man
    You’re my African king

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
