    I Woke Up One Morning

    I woke up one morning
And the whole world had died
    No mothers were weeping
    No babies were crying

    The Sky, no longer brilliant
    Just dull, empty light
    Hardly a difference
    From day and the night

    The Earth, just laid empty
    In my dear God's hands
    No more signs of life
    Just rocks in the sand

    With everything gone
    And me near insane
    I still hear the wind
    Whisper your name.

Blues preacher you are indeed a poet who paints a vivid picture. I just thought nuclear holucaust or the end of the tribulation period. Scary, frightening, I still very curious just want to know what caused the end. this suspense gives even more substance to this poem.

i love the hollow feeling this left me with....like the writer is a mere shell of who he once was before he lost everything

Your poem touched my heart. I've lost two husbands and 2 step children in the past 7 years. I've been alone ever since. I've been an aspiring writer since I could write my name with no luck on being published, so I thought I would try my luck at poems. If you want to become friends and see if we can help eachother, my name is Breezy and I'm at lnewman06@yahoo.com. Take care, hope to hear from you soon. I really liked your poem. Breezy.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
