    Heavens Train

God is good and God is Great
    Something I hold dear
    Some say hes coming
    And wont be late
    Others say he's already here
I just wonder, how long we hafta wait
    Living in this fear
And what of all the little ones
    That dont find their way
All them sons of a gun
    Are they all gonna stay
    And the hookers and lawyers
    And everyone filled with greed
    And all of them others,
    Beneath the opiumtree
    Is that train a comin'
Is there a ticket punched for me
Hey Lord, was I good enough
You gotta ticket there for free?
We all gonna get on the train
    And hear that whistle blow
Or lay our heads on the track
And let that train a roll
Aint lookin' for a luxury seat
And to tell you all the truth,
I'd be happy just to shovel coal
    Or ride in the caboose...

Everyone hopes there is a God... Holds true their faith that there is, in fact, something greater than all this we see around us... And, if there is a train to the Heaven we all is there waiting, you couldn't have said it any better... How we get there makes no difference at all... Good write...

I really like this. It is humorous with a message loud and clear. Hope we all can ride that train.

Hope, fear, trepidation, God. It's all in here like a great recipe. It carried me along and the ending "caboose" well it's where it should be at the end. Marvelous write. Ginga

thanks, glad you enjoyed the ride

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
