I Think My Heart
Hatred grows as my love dwindles,
fading into the shadows of mere memory,
the darkest place where my heart once rested.
Joy from life no longer exists for me in this world,
tortured as I am by my own mistakes and regrets.
Confusion reigns in this time of darkness,
keeping me entangled within my secrets and lies,
cutting off all hope of salvation from love and fortune.
Deception and fickleness my constant companions,
love, decency, and honesty have forsaken me.
Yet not all goes wrong in my world,
for I have my beloved, my one true love.
Kind, sensitive, and affectionate is he,
the man who has stolen my heart,
I pray that I never get it back..
May he keep it for all eternity,
cherishing it as I do his.
In this life hatred may reign for a time,
but love will conquer all adversity.
As I awaken from my brush with the abyss,
I need time and answers to my questions,
questions that I have rendered purely nonsense.
