    I promised
    I promised I wasn't going to cry over him.
    I promised I would let him go.
    I promised that we would just stay friends,
    I promised I'd be okay with it, though.

    I promised I'd be his best friend.
    I promised I wouldn't be hurt if he didn't fall for me.
    I promised him my heart but he never saw.
    I promised myself that I would make him see.

    I promised myself everything in this pathetic world.
    I promised to stay friends with all boys until I knew.
    I promised that nothing would distract me from my studies.
    I promised but that was broken that first week!
