Hunger

Poem Commentary

I would like to dedicate this poem to the many people who reach out to feed the children. Right here in our own country children suffer. Thank you

Hunger

Children peer from a window
Tears falling down ones face

Cars pass swiftly
The end of another day
Suppers waiting
They must get home

The smaell of home cooking
Fills the air

Children peer throught the window
It's another day
Another day of hunger
Right here in the city

Home where people have plenty
There is a child that  is hungry
They  hunger for the taste
That fills the air

Untill you have known the pain
Suffer as they do
Like a child somewhere
In your own town
A better understanding
You might have

Children cry out inside
Hear their crys of hunger
They are hungry today
Peering through their windows
Smelling someones  home cooked meal
On their table nothing

It breaks my heart when I think of all the poor and needy that we neglect we live in the richest country in the world where food and shelter is always available if only the resources weren't hidden in the dark alleys and bowery’s. Living bellow the poverty level is not a sin, it's a shame that gives all Americans a black eye. There is neither rhyme nor reason that this circumstance should prevail. A solution should be top priority. Nice poem Betty, your heart is always in the right place. LOL, BDC

Wow! It is rough for me to think of anyone who does not have the means for something so basic as a meal. It is even worse to think of a child in that position, because they don't have the ability an adult does to provide for themself. Thank you for sharing your poems.

There are a lot of kids, as you portray here in this poem of yours, Betty. So many of us feel the sadness, and wish there was more one could do..............................gogant

gogant you are so right but there is only so much we can do. Unfortunatley many fall between the cracks. I too wish there were more we could do.
