    Fireflies

    Fireflies in the night,
    blazing through the darkest air.
    Wings spread,
    Light ablaze,
    looking for the perfect mate.
    Children follow,
    filled with wonder.
    Catching them,
    tiny little stars.
    Wings spread,
    light ablaze,
    a childhood dream.
    A freedom,
    a flight,
    a night light.
    Dotting through the dark night,
    floating through the chilly air,
    Fireflies in the night.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
