    Confusion

In this world, strung so high,
    the ground below bleeds tonight.
Never setting foot on the bloodless sky,
    never feeling the pulsing light.
Up above the world so high,
looking below to see those cries.
Shedding torn tears to boil and coil.
Rooting and looting the Earth alone.
The soil between my toes, unknown.
Eyes turned upward in amazement and grief.
The sky falls apart, so brief,
Leaving none behind in this life, so cheap.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
