    Poem Commentary

    This is perhaps the final poem in a series of poems Ive written this year about a woman I was interested in but was too late in trying to date her. Im sure there alot of people who can relate to this poem in some way. :)

    Final Embrace

     Final Embrace: 58 Lines

    A cool walk in the night down the way to keep myself occupied,
    Didn't know i find myself soon satisfied,
    Turned the corner and there you were,
    Threw me off but didn't stop me from going further,
    You guarded the door as if i could not pass,
    I walked in as if i had a right to be in this class,

    My smile changed everything,
    I was like old times again or something,
    We began to speak though not so much this time,
    I could tell you woke up, but at least you didn't look like you at a bunch of sour limes,

    We proceeded out through the door, I learning that the place we both were at was closed,
    Little did you know that I had words that were well chosed,
    For what would happen next,
    Far much emotion than within any text,

    You initiated, did what I did not expect,
    Of course, I did not reject,
    Your touch and connection, your entwine with me,
    The hug that is rarely felt in humans, but does far more than make someone happy,
    When i received it I was ready to let go, move on,
    But your embrace said, "HEY! Hold on!"

    I responded in kind,
    This to me was a sweet bind,
    But even though I am the lover, I still had to let go,
    And I masked it well, I didn't let it show,
    And when I let go you had plans to see me as before on a whim,
    But I knew in my heart that moment may never come to us again,
    So you said good bye as though you'd see me soon,
    But my next words became your sorrow of doom,

    I told you I was leaving, and at that leaving sooner than I had planned,
    Romance finished... Love now canned,
    Head lowered with a faint smile,
    You still had hope all the while,
    You vowed to see me before I would leave,
    And, perhaps, give me one last hug, maybe a kiss as a final reprieve,

    And as you turned you called me something you say to many but mean differently with me,
    You called me honey,
    As though I was your lover, the one you were losing, your man,
    Spoken as if we were lovers for a millennium under the Arabian sand, your plan,
    Like pillows of comfort your words rested on me,
    They rested so sweetly,

    So soft as we turned and began to part,
    I wanted to right at that moment, the start,
    To run to you and hold you yet again,
    And embrace you, allow you to feel love all over within,
    But that is not what I did as I walked off into the night,
    Looking hard for the beautiful moonlight,

    As I walked away I could only think of you,
    But knew that moment would be the last time I would ever see you...
    Humbled, I was surprised to see it come, to see it face to face,
    The connection, the warmth of you, the final embrace.
