Cultural shindig
A mix of cultures, so far
celebrates in unison
with diverse traditions
richness to the whole nation.
‘Tis part of being together
as a faith community
what a blessing!
a great endeavor.
Clouds and showers dissipate
but that doesn’t matter
a roaring shout of joy
a popular expression.
‘Tis a new reality
in today’s generation
‘to remember’ then,
and give thanks to God.
Like a blot of ashes
smudged on the forehead
‘to remember’ the past
and celebrate it with love.
Empathy to those in pain
appreciation to their labors
those people who endeavored
to keep our community going.
With music and laughter
with noise and pandemonium
this describes the situation
of immigrants in the foreign land.
Hispanics and some Europeans
Asians and Afro-Americans
they combine their freedom
and share their backgrounds.
