Carl
His name was Carl
He was a lonesome fellow
None of the kids ever looked at him
Not one ever said a hello
On the outside, he was obnoxious and loud
But on the inside, he was shrunken inside himself
He was only thirteen the day he took his own life
He was tired of everyone looking at him with hatred in their eyes
Most of the time he was out of the way
And most of the kids preferred him having nothing to say
No one ever told Carl that he was amazing
That God thought he was more than wasted space
And by the time someone noticed him, it was too late
He'd already left this world
He was finally out of the way
The kids all regretted the decision he made
To end his own life in the cafeteria that day
But they couldn't rewind time's clock to that second
They couldn't bring him back from the dead
But they learned a lesson from Carl
They learned that every second of life is borrowed
And what you do with those moments determine your tomorrow
We're not promised forever, or even today
So stand up for the weak, don't be afraid
If only someone would have stood up for Carl
He could have been alive today without so much pain and sorrow
Live with no regrets
Because everyone needs at least one touch from a friend
