Blood On The Sun
He robbed a bank and had to go across the Rio Grande
Rode down into Mexico to find the promised land
Stumbled late into a village just by circumstance
He could smell hot peppers grilling on the outside winds of chance
Rented rooms unspoken past time piled in the dust
Kept to himself nobody asked didn't know who to trust
Days nights weeks went by till even bad times were good
Drinks and songs in cantinas cried his coins rang on wood
He began to settle down Rosalita was her name
Fleeting dreams she passed around played him a fools game
And even though time came through a threat was in the air
He'd have to settle up his dues the devil did declare
Of course in time lost was found and one day they came
Dark strangers rode into town badges on display
In the street he made his stand three to one was right
Flashing guns fell in the sand his dreams died that night
He drank lots of gold tequilla
While mariachis soothed his nights
But he left blood on the sun
When his day had come
His only love found by candlelight
