A Whisper

A Whisper

Do you hear it?

So light and teasing, it leaves you unsure
Leaning in toward the sound, for now you are not confirmed that it ever were
Carried by the swirling wind, it whistles past you
Gone in a heart beat, before you may perceive anew
Dancing jubilantly around a wide room, it toys with us all
Making us snap around, ear pricked, as if called
Eyes narrowed, i hunt down the source
It shifts with each giggle, showing no remorse
So low and so small, yet as far as i can see
You control the world, trapping all who think they are free

Do you hear it?

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
