    Unwanted Goodbyes

    Blast from the past
    The butterflies are back
Being bombarded by feelings your shadow casts
Rushing through from the 4 months of lack

I thought i would be strong enough to suppress my desire
But everyday I'm here it gets harder to block away
It started in my center and spread like fire
My head racing from everything you say

But as much as i long to feel your touch
It can never be for i wasted my shot
And now I'm forced to hold to the past like a crutch
And none of it will matter even if i fought

You've found a new love and i can only be content
As long as your happy I can be your friend
So now i must say my goodbye
To my only love, for this is the end

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
