The Remnants of War
Fallen foes
lie broken,
upon a misty
battle field.
Lives so easily stolen
by the guns we wield.
Here within these lessons
so few can comprehend.
it’s all but a play
upon the stage
of imagination;
games of pretend.
Words written to honor,
a fallen hero’s prayer.
Yet little to aid
for a mother bereaved,
Left to mourn
time and again.
