The Lie
He called me on the phone
I was shocked and surprised
Though I hesitated
In the past he spit only lies
He ask me to forgive him
I could tell he was crying
He told me inside his heart
He felt like he was dying
He went on to talk about
The things he did to me
How he cheated and lied
How much he saw me bleed
I told him that I forgive him
It was years ago
That I was ok now
It's time to let me go
He thanked me for giving him my time
I told him I hope I gave him back his piece of mind
When I hung up the telephone
I just sat down and cried
Because for the first time in twenty years
he didn't tell me a lie
I was shocked and surprised
Though I hesitated
In the past he spit only lies
He ask me to forgive him
I could tell he was crying
He told me inside his heart
He felt like he was dying
He went on to talk about
The things he did to me
How he cheated and lied
How much he saw me bleed
I told him that I forgive him
It was years ago
That I was ok now
It's time to let me go
He thanked me for giving him my time
I told him I hope I gave him back his piece of mind
When I hung up the telephone
I just sat down and cried
Because for the first time in twenty years
he didn't tell me a lie
