    Never Say Forever

    I write about love
In my heart I know it isn't real
    Like a good old movie
Your heart he wants to steal
Did he tell you he loves you
Say how he'd love you forever
Make you feel your the only one
    Isn't he so clever
Did he tell you about her
How he took her for a ride
    When it all goes down
Is he right there by your side
Did he promise he would never leave
With you he wants to grow old
Did you lay your hand on his heart
And watch your fingertips grow cold
Did he tell you he'd be back in just a little while
When he went out the door
Did you see his crooked smile
It's all good only sunshine never rain
    Are you alone right now
Is he there to help the pain
    Girl don't be a fool
    Never give him the pleasure
Because everything he said is a lie
If he told you he'd love you forever

Best line ever, "Did you lay your hand on his heart/And watch your fingertips grow cold"/ Lots of truth in this one. Well done.

So many hearts are laid bare with a promise of forever that ends too soon. A very nice poem, Sheirriee........................gogant

I don't think there's anything wrong with professing the forever theme, so long as it's what you truly and honestly believe in your heart and mind at the time... Things change, people change, circumstances change... Any serious type of relationship without that spirit of possibility there, isn't giving it a just chance... Love more often is just something that develops between two people after they've gotten to know, respect, and truly care about each other... Up until that point, just casually saying forever to someone is only one of many terms of endearing things they lend as a demonstration of how they feel at the time.. Only a sucker would fall for it carte blanche literally... Good write though...

thank you. What you say is true.My parents were married for 53 years so I do believe in true love.Yes my heart was broken so I've lost my faith. But I will always wait for that man I can treat like a king.My x'es always want me back but it's to late now.I want a man that will never leave.I'll always be waiting. If not I'll die alone.Thank you for your honest comment sweetie.

Hearts are most easily healed when facing all the emotions head on and then refusing to let it control you - to give the other person control when you know they don't deserve You! Great expression in prose and poetic sensitivity! Keep creating and find new ways to smile from the inside.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
