THE LAST CARNIVAL
Last daze of fall, Trees are all in color,
Smells of burning leaves as dusk approaches,
Cook outs and popcorn fill the air,
Off in the distance the merry- go- round plays a melody,
Filling the air with sounds and happiness,
Bringing new life to the town as people follow the music,
Children run ahead of the parents laughing and happy,
They soon see the carnival in all its glory,
The sounds, the smells, the bright lights lighting up the night,
It brings out the best of us, age disappears, lollipops and suckers,
Rides and games, house of mirrors, cotton candy and sodas too,
We all take a ride on the merry-go-round,
Grab the brass ring and make a wish,
We watch the fireworks and dream,
The finale rocks the night like thunder,
All is dark now, the carnival is gone,
The last carnival, the last night of fall,
Falling like the leaves to be only a memory,
For this was the last carnival !
