The Crash (Rejection)
We rushed into this “love"
And hit “nothing” like a wall
As the inertia from the crash played out
We watched our hearts fall
From our chests
Into each other’s laps
Not considering what we held
We rushed away from the crash
We ran separate ways
Never thought to grab our own hearts
So we ran away with the wrong ones
And now our new beginnings may never start.
We ran and ran
Until we were safely away
Didn’t notice we had each other’s hearts
Until it was too late
Now my heart belongs to him
And his belongs to me
And it hurts for us to face this
Because we know that we could never be
So I keep his heart stored
With the rest of my collection
Because without having my own heart to give
Everyone else just gets what I have left to offer…
Rejection.
