Poem Commentary

A tongue in cheek just for fun poem for Christmas!

"The Busiest Night Of The Year"

BUSIEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR

It was the busiest night of the year
And Santa was collecting his gear,
Laden with gifts and a little bit pissed
He set off to deliver some cheer.
He slipped on the ice, gave Rudolph a fright
And an antler went up Santa's rear.
With gifts to deliver and all of a quiver
He reached for his bottle of rum.
He wriggled and giggled, was obviously piddled
Shaking his bag fat tum...
Rudolph was squealing, the pair of them reeling
As they skidded around on the ice.
At last Santa sneezed, Rudolph fell to his knees
And Santa was launched into flight.
Oh what a sight, as he flew through the night,
Clutching his rum and rubbing his bum
Whilst grinning from ear to ear....
On the busiest night of the year!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
