suicide
She slip the drain plug in
Turns the hot and cold water on to fill the tub
Head down stairs to turn the lights off
Taking the sharpest knife from the kitchen draw
A tall glass of red wine to comfort that’s all
Heads to den to write her note
Her last oath
Telling those she loves bye
Leaving her reason why
Finishes
Takes a good look around
Heading up stairs with out a sound
Stops in front of the bathroom
Knowing this will be the final time her feet touches the floor
Steering at black and white marble tile
Like she was waiting for an answer but no reply
Puts her favorite cd in, Sarah Mclachlan skipping to number five
Hitting repeat then turns the light off and lights the candles
Giving the room a eerie glow
The music dances through the empty house
She puts the glass of red wine at the edge of the tub
Alone with the two bottles of pills she took from her mother nightstand
And the knife from kitchen draw
Folding her cloths neatly
Laying them on top of toilet seat
Turn to the mirror to fix her hair
Thinking why would any one care
Slides into the tub
The water swallows her whole
Like a drowning man she breaks the surface
Laying her head at the back of the tub
Over the sound of the music
She can hear the ticking of the clock
The soft drops of rain beating against the windowpane
The wind howls through the new leaves
The trees bends as if to wave goodbye
Another spring night in the month of April
Oh well, that didn’t matter right now
She throws back a handful of pills
Taking a mouthful of the wine
The sweet taste lingers in her throat
She then takes the knife cutting her wrist
Hoping that she had hit the vain
She saw a website that told people how to do it
Waiting for the pills to take effect
Closing her eyes thinking of her faith
But it was too late for regrets
Even a debate
As she slips in and out of consciousness
The grim reaper lifeless kiss
Flashes from the prom, cheer-leading practice
Nights with Rick at point lookout
Days on the swing and other things
Slumber party with Lisa, Megan and Jenn
Maryann, Amber and Kim
That ill-fated cold November night when she had too much to drink
Then try to drive the girls home
Swerving from side to side she missed the curve
Over the embankment
Where the car came to rest
Broad side
Against the mighty oak chest
And in that moment they were gone
Friendship so long
She wonders why she walked away from the wreck
Slowly dying with each step
Spending all her time waiting
For that second chance
For that break that would make things ok
But there was always that reason
She felt anything at all
And it became harder with the end of each day
Needing some distraction
Beautiful release
Now these memories seep from her vain
Wishing she could find some peace tonight
In the arms of an angel
Far away from here
Hoping she could find some comfort there
