Poem Commentary

Afraid to talk...

Stuck Inside Myself

I pace back and forth in my gilded cage.
Peering out through her eyes.
My eyes.
They don't feel like mine anymore.
I watch people around me.
Crying. Yelling. Blaming me.
I feel nothing. Empty. Hollow.
But the bars are solid.
They hold under my desperate struggles.
So I sit. And wait.
My face a frozen mask. People react around me...
But
I
Remain
Hollow....

Sometimes its just like standing in the median while a traffic accident is going on around you. There can be peace in hollowness, and calmness there too. This piece is a good expression of feelings and at least one way to cope with chaos. Write on.....Tlady

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
