    SHADOWS IN THE SUNLIGHT

SHADOWS FALL WITH EVERY BEAM OF SUNLIGHT
BUT THE LIGHTS NEVER ENOUGH TO STOP THE DARKNESS FROM CREATING NIGHT.
EVERY GLIMPSE OF HOPE SHE SEEMS TO FIND
CAN BE CRUSHED IN JUST A MATTER OF TIME
ALL THE DREAMS THEY MADE THAT SEEMED SO REAL
FADE OFF INTO THE DISTANCE NO MATTER HOW IT FEELS
CONFUSION ARRIVES AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIME
THEN FOLLOWS WITH DOUBT THAT HANGS AROUND IN HER MIND.
A LOVE THAT ONCE MEANT EVERYTHING
BREAKS IN HALF AND SETS TWO SOULS FREE.
HEARTBREAK SETS IN AND CAPTURES HER WHOLE
SOON COMES DESPAIR OF HER BODY SHE QUICKLY LETS GO.
    THE FUTURE IS GRIM
    RIGHT NOW IS CRUCIAL
SHE WILL NEVER BE MORE THEN AN INSECT ON HIS WINDOW
HE WILL BE FOREVER IN HER DREAMS FOR AS LONG AS THERE IS NIGHT.
HER LOST LOVE WILL BE LURKING IN THE SHADOWS
THAT ARE CREATED BY THE SUNLIGHT.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
