Rumbling Serenades, Falling Lyrics
There’s a song
Bubbling
Up inside,
Pressing against the
Walls
Of my lungs,
Suffocating me.
It pushes against my
Oxygen,
Lodges in my
Throat.
Will it ever come
Soaring out?
I opened my
Mouth,
But no sound
Escaped.
Burn my fingers,
I try to scream.
I can’t;
I suffer.
No, I can’t sing,
But I can still
Cry.
Big, basketball-sized
Tears
Full of
Water,
Salt,
Fear.
Storm clouds roll in,
One after the other,
Their rumbling
Penetrates my
Stillness,
I shake.
Now, mimic them.
I growl,
I wail,
I rumble,
But I still can’t
Sing.
I listen to
Recordings
Of my favorite
Songs,
But I no longer
See,
I no longer
Hear,
I no longer
Believe.
The song is stuck
Where it will forever be
Trapped
Under the growing thorns of my
Unsaid words.
Bubbling
Up inside,
Pressing against the
Walls
Of my lungs,
Suffocating me.
It pushes against my
Oxygen,
Lodges in my
Throat.
Will it ever come
Soaring out?
I opened my
Mouth,
But no sound
Escaped.
Burn my fingers,
I try to scream.
I can’t;
I suffer.
No, I can’t sing,
But I can still
Cry.
Big, basketball-sized
Tears
Full of

Storm clouds roll in,
One after the other,
Their rumbling
Penetrates my
Stillness,
