    Past

Tonight is the night the past haunts my mind.
Tonight my dreams they tuant and they tease
All the things I though I left behind
Hidden within, beyond all can see.
    To torture to remind
I watch as they dance only for me.
    Suductive and sweet.
They whisper and flatter and call out for me
    Watch watch
watch all the things that you will never be.

     The past it is haunting
    breaking me
    laughing and taunting
    it won't let me free
I sit in the cold, the dark of the night
I hold myself still and try not to cry
as it giggles and ripples with darkened delight
    Twisting and turning
    it takes it first bite.

The past brings with it every regret
    every door I left closed
    every person unmet
    For so long so composed
All the things I wish to forget.

    The things I could be
    The places I'd go
If only back then I could see what I see

You typed in a previous poem that you are not broken, which means that you are learning from your mistakes.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
