    Painful, Broken Silence

    Silence
    in a dim lit room
    no one here
    but me and the moon

    A Sound
    a knock at the door
    I turn at the noise
then I look at the floor

    I walk
    and I do
    outside the door
    the tap of his shoes

    I pause
    as I try to decide
    should I hide my face
or stare into his wrath filled eyes

    No time
    no time to think
    the insistant knock
turns into anger on the brink

    I turn
    the knob of the door
    and he flys through
    throwing me to the floor

    Hurting me
    he throws insults
    his fists giving me bruises
my broken heart is the result

    Why?
    that is my cry
    this was the guy
who was going to help me reach the sky

    But now I know
    this isn't true
    for if he loved me
    My sky would be blue

    But it isn't
    and now
    I lay face down
    on the floor
    no more
    can I love
    with my
    broken heart

WOW!!!!!!!! This poem was really good i felt a connection with you like your story could possibly be mine

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
