    Loving You

Laying there with my arms around you,
loving you was all I could do.
You are my life, my heart, my soul,
without you I can never be whole.
I tried to turn you away from me,
but a life without you could never be.

You brought light to my darkened life,
though loving you cut like a knife.
You saw past my cold reserve,
giving me a love I didn't rightly deserve.
Though I put you in harms way,
"Never leave me" was all you could say.

You wanted us to be forever,
but doing that to you I could never.
Though you felt your heart breaking,
life from you I will not be taking.
    You became my only muse,
and your love I would never abuse.

Personally, I believe that love poems are a bit cliche; however, I like your dark style mixed with the concept of love and what it ought to be.

    Love is sneeky

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
