KILLING ME SOFTLY

Feeling the hurt and the pain

Dragging my heart in shame

as I listened to your story

I began to worry

I held back my tears

For I could feel all those fears

As you showed you frustration

It was leading to condemnation

What am I to do when I am in the wrong

No longer do I feel strong

For loving you the way that I do

God I wanted this to be true

I wanted to be apart of your life

To someday be your wife

I hate your situation

Now I know that I am in condemnation

Like a knife stabbed deep into my heart

The light in my life has now turned dark

Hindering pain fills my veins

I want to cry cuz I feel like I am going insane

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
